A Sizzling Second Round on the Cards!

The new SuperEnduro season got off to good start after a record-breaking first round, and the impressive performance of Billy BOLT (GB - Husqvarna). And four days after the New Year the elite riders of the SuperEnduro World Championship will be back to battle it out on Saturday 4th January at the SachsenArena in Riesa.

Motorsportverein Riesa and the production company "Auerswald Eventmanufactur" will organize, for the 6th consecutive year, a round of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship with support from ADAC and DMSB.

Big Entry List, Big Crowds

After huge success in Saxony, "Auerswald Eventmanufactur" and the Motorsportverein Riesa are currently among the most experienced organisers on the calendar. Having hosted the event so many times in the city of Riesa, they therefore chose the SachsenArena, and its 6,000 seats, to once again provide the action for the second round of the championship.

The town of Riesa is located in former East Germany, more precisely in the region of Saxony. A city of around 34,000, Riesa is the largest city in the Meissen district and borders the banks of the Elbe. It is located 90km east of Leipzig and 70km south-west of Dresden.

With a full rider entry list, and more than 16 nations represented in the three categories, the German Grand Prix will put on a great show for the enthusiastic audience, who are all big fans of motorbikes!

Can BOLT Back It Up?

It happened; King Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL - KTM) was finally beaten in the Tauron Arena in Krakow (Poland), after three years of dominant victories! And while WEBB and HAAKER were unable to dethrone the Pole in previous seasons, the returning Billy BOLT did it in style on December 7!
From now on, the Brit will have to prove that his performance in Poland wasn’t just a flash in the pan, especially as he admits to “still not being 100% fit” after his shocking injury from December 2018…

In order to come out on top once again, he will still have to show both his technical and physical superiority against the SuperEnduro ‘GOAT’, Taddy BLAZUSIAK, who is still chasing his 7th crown. Only 5 points behind BOLT, the “Polish Nightmare” will want to shine, and above all win, in Germany to take the lead in the provisional standings.
Alfredo GOMEZ (E - Husqvarna) and Jonny WALKER (GB - KTM) have the skill and determination to fight it out with the leading duo but the Spaniard needs to find a bit more aggression, while the Brit will need more luck on his side and fewer errors than he committed in Poland last month.
Blake GUTZEIT (RSA - KTM), Pol TARRES (E - Husqvarna), Xavi LEON SOLE (E - Husqvarna) and Kevin GALLAS (D - Husqvarna) will also all seek to get closer to the Top 4 and perhaps even aim for a podium.

Unhappy at the Tauron Arena, Diogo VIEIRA (P - Yamaha) and William HOARE (GB - KTM) will certainly arrive in Riesa with the desire to prove that they are better than the 14th and 12th places they took in Krakow…

Finally, in addition to GALLAS, the 6,000 spectators in the SachsenArena will also be closely watching out for Tim APOLLE (D - KTM). After an encouraging performance during Round 1, the German will want to get a little closer to the Top 5 in front of his home crowd.

Junior: CULLINS, HENTSCHEL & KABAKCHIEV - All to Play For.

The Junior category did not lack spice and excitement a month ago in Krakow with three different winners over the three races and an American points leader, Ty CULLINS (USA - TM), who is only 2 points ahead of his nearest rivals: Leon HENTSCHEL (D - Husqvarna) and Teodor KABAKCHIEV (BG - KTM).
We may well see Round 2 play out between these three protagonists again, with a possible advantage going to local man, HENTSCHEL. But other young guns are waiting in the wings, such as Adrien JACON (F - KTM), Milan SCHMÜSER (D - Sherco), Raul GUIMERA (E - Sherco) and Enrico RINALDI (I - Husqvarna). So we may well see even more Under 23 riders going for the podium.
It was a great shame to hear about the shoulder injury suffered by Jozsa NORBERT-LEVANTE (Husqvarna) during training, this will put the Romanian out for the rest of the season.

Finally, in the European Cup category we could also see a new winner, but it will depend if anyone can get near dominant Swede, Magnus THOR (Husqvarna). But riders such as Sonny GOGGIA (I - Beta), Miha SPINDLER (SLO - KTM), Pascal SPRINGMANN (D - Beta), Thomas SCHLEY (D - KTM) and Marcel TEUCHER (D - KTM) will all be gunning for the top spot…

After a great opening round in Krakow, there are many questions ready to be answered in Germany. So we’ll see you at 18:00 CET this Saturday January 4 at the SachsenArena in Riesa where the SEWC stars will be waiting for another high-flying show!
