A Great Start to the Year!

It is now a tradition in the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship that the New Year is celebrated in Germany, at the SachsenArena in Riesa - as it has been for 6 editions already. And what a show we were treated to…

Sold Out…Again!

After the Tauron Arena in Poland, which boasted a packed house and set a new spectator record of 14,000 people, the second round of the season also saw the arena sold out. Smaller than its Polish counterpart, the SachsenArena nevertheless provided an excellent atmosphere for SuperEnduro fans and maintains its reputation of having rowdy and knowledgable crowds. A total of 6,000 spectators saw the amazing fight between BLAZUSIAK, BOLT and WALKER, and Auerswald Eventmanufaktur and MSV Riesa can congratulate themselves on this great success, for the 6th season in a row!

Hall of Fame

To demonstrate how the German GP has become an unmissable event in SuperEnduro calendar and to preserve the history of this race, Dan & Tobias AUERSWALD decided to create a “Hall of Fame” for each Prestige, Junior & Europe / National winner since the first race in 2015… This Hall of Fame is represented by large banners above the stands with a photo of the three winners of each year… After the evening of racing in 2020, Taddy BLAZUSIAK (PL - KTM), Ty CULLINS (USA - TM) and Sonny GOGGIA (I - Beta) will join the big winners of the German GP!

European Cup

After the dominance of Magnus THOR (S - Husqvarna) in Poland, it was expected that the Swede would once again be standing on the highest step of the podium. But despite his performance in Krakow, the Husqvarna rider couldn’t replicate his pace and accuracy win Germany. In fact, he had to settle for 6th place as he saw his Italian rival, Sonny GOGGIA, romp to overall event victory. Combined with his second place in the first round, the Beta rider closes up to just 4 points behind THOR in the provisional standings. Home rider Marco PFEIFER (D - KTM) impressively took to the podium in Riesa during his first participation in the European Cup. Everything remains to play for between THOR and GOGGIA at the final round, which will take place on February 1st in Budapest!

Scott Best Lap

In the race for the fastest lap, Billy BOLT (GB - Husqvarna) put in all his speed and talent to win the Scott Best Lap for the second time of the season with a lap of 43’’496. While in Junior, the young Polish prospect Dominik OLSZOWY (PL - KTM) set the quickest time of 48’’744, drawing closer to Ty CULLINS who set the best time in Krakow.

BOLT Given the Boot

It would be an understatement to say that Billy BOLT didn’t have an easy time of it in Riesa. The Factory Husqvarna rider experienced a nightmare night and found himself on the stadium floor more times than he would’ve liked! But his biggest crash came when he fell from the bridge in the first race; in addition to being dizzy for a few seconds, BOLT got his Husqvarna’s handlebar stuck in his boot. He had to be helped by a Marshall in order to free himself and finally set off again. Despite all these mishaps, the powerful Brit still managed to salvage an amazing 2nd place finish - but he now trails BLAZUSIAK by 11 points.

Ministerial Visit

Just like last year, the Minister-President of Saxony, Michael KRETSCHMER came to witness the evening of SuperEnduro action. A fan of motorsports since his youth and himself a motorcycle rider, the Minister-President said once again that he was impressed by the technique and the speed of the riders on the very tough and technical track!

French Touch

For a few seasons now, the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship has had a small contingent of young French riders in the making. Often making it through qualifying, these young hopefuls had not yet received much media attention, apart from the achievements of Paul BURY in the European Cup in 2018. But last weekend in Riesa, the three Frenchman present showed their talents! Adrien JACON (KTM) took a very strong result and is becoming a regular podium in the Junior class behind Ty CULLINS and Leon HENTSCHEL (D - Husqvarna). The KTM rider took 3rd in Germany at the expense of his compatriot, Fabien POIROT (Husqvarna), who performed well too. In addition, Isaac DEVOULX (Husqvarna) stepped up and showed potential as he completed the Top 5! This could bode well for the future of French riders in SuperEnduro!
