A Completely Crazy Finale!

Let’s take a look back at the 2019 season finale, which will go down in the SuperEnduro history books after last minute twists in the tale!
It’s all revealed in this final "Arena Buzz” of the season...

Presidential Visit

At this grand finale of the Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship in Bilbao, we had the honour of welcoming the new FIM President, Mr. Jorge VIEGAS
Mr. VIEGAS presented the new Prestige World Champion, Colton HAAKER (USA - Husqvarna), and the Junior World Champion, William HOARE (GB - KTM), with their FIM medals. The President of the FIM was also interviewed by our TV host Dave MOORE during the live coverage of the event.

Scott Best Lap

As is the case at every Grand Prix since the beginning of the season, Marco GALLI (Marketing Coordinator of Scott Motorsport) handed the Scott Best Lap award plaques to the riders who achieved the fastest lap time in the races. This time around, it was Colton HAAKER who won the Prestige with a time of 42''546 while Tim APOLLE (D - KTM) clocked up a best time of 49 '' 663 in the Junior class!

Progression

Since the beginning of the season, many Junior riders have progressed and impressed, such as Enrico RINALDI (I - Husqvarna) and Adrien JACON (F - KTM). Apart from RINALDI taking an excellent race win in the Bizkaia Arena, we also noticed Latvia’s Andris GRINFELDS (KTM) showing strongly and proving that he’s worked hard during the five events this year. The 2018 Vice European Champion went from not qualifying for the main event at the first round in Poland, to 3rd overall in Bilbao following a victory in the second race! This progression also allowed him to secure an encouraging 11th place in the Junior final ranking.

European Cup: Scharl Victorious

There was a lot of suspense in the European class heading into Bilbao with three riders all capable of taking the title: Robert SCHARL (D - Husqvarna), Tom KNIGHT (GB - Gas Gas) and Paul BURY (F - Beta). With a second place and a win, the German - who had a 10-point lead upon his arrival at the final round - snatched the European gold medal. While Paul BURY (1/2) took home the silver, and the young Manxman grabbed the bronze. This FIM European Cup has once again proved a great success with the riders during the three rounds of its calendar...

Rookie of the Year

First seen last season in the Bizkaia Arena, Pol TARRES (E - Husqvarna) participated in his first full season of the Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship this year. And with a 4th place finish overall, he certainly proved he means business! For this reason he has earned the honorary title of "Rookie of the Year”. Leaving no chance to some of the other candidates; Kevin GALLAS (D - Husqvarna), Alex GRAU (E - Sherco) or Juan Maria JOSE BERNABEU (E - Sherco)… A great debut in the discipline for the ever smiling Pol!
