Cody WEBB brings down Jonny WALKER

Contrary to what was announced on the evening of the 4th round of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship, it was Cody WEBB and not Billy BOLT who won this fourth confrontation in the delicate exercise of getting the best start. The American tripped up Jonny WALKER who had been the boss in this area since the start of the season.

In 2023, the promoters of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship have decided to reward, with their partner Airoh, the riders who have mastered the art of getting off to a good start. This season, the Airoh Holeshot will reward the driver(s) who cross the first corner in the lead. This reward will be awarded in the premier category: Prestige. For this second Israeli GP, the start is very close to the Airoh gate. A very short straight line is followed by a 45 degree turn, the pilots must then cross a large tree trunk to sign the holeshot. In the first heat, Billy BOLT (GBR-Husqvarna) took responsibility as he was the first to clinch the best start of the evening. The Briton is ahead of Taddy BLAZUSIAK (POL-GASGAS) and Cody WEBB (USA-Sherco) who seem to be in very good shape on this hot evening in Jerusalem. Jonny WALKER (GBR- Beta) is a little bit locked up. But the private Beta driver will manage to overcome all his opponents. He finished second in this round behind Billy BOLT and Cody WEBB. The second heat always starts with an inverted grid, placing the last 4 of the Superpole on the front row. At this little game, the 2022 Junior champion, Dominik OLSZOWY (POL-GASGAS) signs a superb holeshot in front of Diogo VIEIRA (POR-GASGAS) and Jordan SCOTT (GBR-TM). Among the big names Jonny WALKER and Taddy BLAZUSIAK manage to keep control ahead of WEBB and Billy BOLT. The red plate holder will not take long to take the lead. He won his second evening final ahead of WALKER and BLAZUSIAK.

The last final start of the evening will fall into the nets of Cody WEBB. Unfortunately for the official Sherco rider the race will be short-lived. Victim of a broken engine, the American pilot can console himself with the victory in the Airoh Holeshot. This is the first time since the start of the season that Jonny WALKER has not pocketed the check of €300 awarded to the winner of this challenge. The last final was won by Billy BOLT ahead of WALKER and BLAZUSIAK. It will be the same result for the Grand Prix. There is only one round left, the Polish Grand Prix II in the Gliwice arena on March 18th. For the final round of the season, the Junior class, the other winner of the Airoh Holeshot, will make a comeback.
